We’re starting a new tradition here at Bookends Writing – a Monthly Creativity Challenge! Each month, for one week out of the month, we’re calling on writers to rise to the challenge. There are a bunch of ways to participate in the creativity challenge, and you could win a writerly prize for entering.
For November 2019, our first crack at this, we’re asking you to write a simple and elegant form: haiku. Take a few minutes and write your haiku, then share it with us on email, on Twitter, on Facebook, on Instagram, or here on our blog in the comments.
The prize this month, for three lucky writers, is a choice of free access to our Creative Cross-training Course, or an evaluation of a chapter of your work in progress, or a one hour coaching call focused on a writing topic of your choosing.
We can’t wait to see what you come up with, so take 5 minutes and get creative right now! This Monthly Creativity Challenge runs Nov. 18 – Nov. 22.
Haiku is a traditional Japanese form of poetry. A typical haiku has four main characteristics:
1. 3 lines
2. 5-7-5 syllable count
3. Nature imagery
4. Allusion to a season
